The definition of “bijou” reads: 1 : a small dainty usually ornamental piece of delicate workmanship : jewel
2 : something delicate, elegant, or highly prized
“Bijoux” is the plural form, so she’s even more precious.
These two year old girls came to the shelter together, and we hope they will be adopted together. Shadow, the dark torti, is friendly but very shy. Tabby torti (torby?) Tiger is much more outgoing.
The shelter has kittens. Despite the snow on the ground, Spring is in the air! Amanda is the dark tortoiseshell and her sister Amy is the pale dilute torti. UPDATE: They have been adopted together. Yea!
This lovely tortoiseshell cat is four years old and very friendly. Two year old calico Pumpkin is one of her roommates at the shelter. Update: Pumpkin has a new home!
The cats have each other, and lots of attention from staff and volunteers until their perfect new family finds them at the shelter. Very soon, I hope!
It’s getting pretty crowded at PAWS.
The kitten population is so mesmerizing that I have been been neglecting the adult cats. This is Gerdy, a one year old torti waiting for a home at PAWS. UPDATE: March 2010- A new home at last!
The kind people at the Scratch Lounge company sent some of their products to PAWS for the shelter cats. They are a big hit! If you use this link to order one for your furry family, PAWS will get a donation.
There is an infinite variety of markings. Symmetry is supposed to be a sign of “beauty of form arising from balanced proportions”. But, symmetrical markings or not, all of these kittens look beautiful to me!
The tortoiseshell and calico cats are almost always girls, and it seems as though they have stronger personalities too. Wikipedia says tortoiseshell cats are also called ‘calimanco or clouded tiger’. With that title, no wonder they have an attitude!
