“Play with me play with me play with me pleeeeeese!”

“Will you play with me?”

Yankee is happy that there’s a place where he can get away from pesky kittens. Poor Kosmo!

Yankee and his orange sister Doodle are still available at the Shelter. Tabby brothers Kosmo and Kramer almost had a home, but the adoption didn’t work out. The second time will surely be the charm!

Kosmo and Kramer are together in a new home for the Holidays.

Marmalade has left the building too…

as well as Puck!
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around the Shelter.

Sunday at the Shelter was a pleasure. I started out by cleaning and playing in the kitten room where I met little Trinket.

What a sweetheart!

These lucky three week old kittens were rescued from a wooded area and brought to the Shelter. After they are fostered, with tender loving care, they will come back to the Shelter ready for adoption.

It will be about a month before they are available. See you later, fuzzies!

Followed by a little playtime…

And an interrupted rainy day nap.

These are the “Dance Kittens”: Oranges Charleston and Tango. The torti is Flamenco and the tabby is Cha Cha.

One year ago he was living in a wooded area along a busy road with his Mother and siblings. Volunteers set traps to rescue the family, spay or neuter them, and get them to safety. Fortunately the stinky sardines in the trap proved irresistible to this little kitten.

There was no room for him at the shelter, so we agreed to foster him in our home. Mickey was 11 weeks old and only 2.2 pounds, small and badly undernourished.

My husband and I couldn’t part with him when it was time to bring him to the shelter (although our cat Gracie would have been OK with it). We adopted Mickey Mouser and now, one year later, we are a happy three cat household.

I don’t know this kitten’s name- but he or she has already been adopted and is home in someone’s lap.
This time of the year the adult cats have a longer wait for a new family.

Many people struggle financially to care for the furry members of their families. Consumer Reports magazine had some good ideas (including the benefits of adopting from animal shelters!) in a series of articles you can read HERE.
