This is Rocky. He’s a wonderful 10 week old kitten and he’s already adopted!
You can see from the photograph how outgoing and curious he is.
The formative years in children extend from birth to eight years old.
With kittens, the all important formative period for socialization is measured in weeks! At PAWS, the fostering program ensures that the adoptable kittens have the very best start. Rather than confining the furry little babies in cages at the shelter, they stay in volunteer’s homes receiving lots of love and attention.
When they’re old enough for adoption, they’re brought back to PAWS.

Meet Peanut, a lovely eight year old calico. She hasn’t been at PAWS very long and is still getting used to shelter life.
It must be calico week; my friends at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life have featured pretty Patches. CLICK HERE to see her.
Seven Kittens
This is Happy on the left, and Grumpy on the right. Can you guess the names of the other five kittens in the litter?
These two motherless babies were at PAWS Sunday for a few hours.
Shelter Kittens are lovingly fostered in homes until they are older.
When they come back in a month or so, they’ll be well socialized and ready for adoption.

Little Edith and her playmate, black and white Ross, are in separate cages in the kitten room.
When they’re let out to play, they love to climb to the top of the cage bank, up near the ceiling. Fortunately, Edith and Ross are pretty easy to lure back down…
They’re very busy little kittens. Ross has been adopted and will be going to his new home tomorrow. I hope Edith won’t have to wait much longer.

Elsewhere in the shelter, Boone was having an easy Sunday morning.
Heard in the Kitten Room:
“They untied my shoelaces again.”
“Ut oh, there are four kittens in this cage. Now I only see three. What’s that noise in the trash can?”
“Argh! He climbed up my leg!”
“Oh no. I just cleaned that cage. They dumped the litter box all over!”
“Look out! There’s one right behind you.”
PAWS has many beautiful kittens available for adoption.

When I see the first flowers coming up in the garden, and a new crop of kittens at the Shelter, I know Spring is coming.
Kristy and her sister…
Steffie!
These kittens won’t be at the Shelter long. They’re cuddly, sweet, playful girls. So cute!

Some cats and kittens at the Shelter are so appealing, it’s surprising that they aren’t adopted immediately. Thicket, who spent months of her kittenhood charming the staff and volunteers, has finally gone to her new home.
Maybe she was just waiting for the right family.
You can see Thicket’s baby picture HERE.

Luke has such a beautiful soft coat! He’s friendly, sweet, playful, and he’s got a very cute tail.

I wrote about Blanche a few months ago- you can see her kitten pictures HERE. As she has grown up, she’s developed some beautiful subtle markings.
Update: Blanche has been adopted!
