This is the first stop for anyone who volunteers at the Shelter. To prevent the spread of germs, we wear smocks and change them between rooms.
So many choices…
After gathering up cleaning supplies, I start in Cat Room #1 where Tessa is waiting to supervise.
This is Cecil’s room too. He’s a sweet playful boy, right down to the white tip at the end of his tail.
UPDATE! Cecil has been adopted!
And this is also Loreen’s room. She’s got a favorite new napping spot.
I’ve gotten very fond of the cats in this room. But every week I hope that they will have been adopted and are gone.

Santana has changed a lot since she came to the Shelter a year ago.
Back then she didn’t even want to be touched. After a lot of love, care, and treats, staff and volunteers have finally convinced her that people are OK.
Santana is affectionate, playful, loves other cats, and has a great purr motor.

There’s a new cat at the shelter appropriately named Bella.
In case you were wondering, as I was, it’s only slightly unusual to have a female orange cat. Statistically, 80% of orange cats are male.
But she is unusually pretty, friendly, and energetic!

Quiet and shy Pauline with her roommates today.
That’s playful Mac in the foreground- a sweet young male. Gem is the white cat, Pauline is on top of the perch, and Daphne is in the tube.
Cat Room #4 at PAWS is fun to visit.
